Episode description
Poetry: a way around forbidden arts. This episode's guest was again Shams Langeroudi — poet and leading Hafez scholar — but this time the talk was all about what lies behind Persian poetry and the rindi (roguish wit) of Hafez. Why has Iran produced so many poets? Why did some believe Hafez was a mystic, while others think he was a silver-tongued, witty rogue who enjoyed playing with words and confusing the rulers and clerics of his day? You could say the history of Persian poetry divides into three parts when it comes to wine: first, when wine was simply wine (we've all read Khayyam). Then wine became a way to connect with the spiritual, and mystical wine was born, as in Rumi's poems. And third, Hafez stepped onto the field of Persian poetry and called every earlier meaning into question. With his wordplay, Hafez created something that has puzzled analysts of Persian poetry for centuries. But how did this historical journey happen? How did Hafez reach such a level of rindi? And what does rind even mean? In this episode, Shams Langeroudi answers every doubt about Hafez and his poetry in his own delightful way. If you'd like to know why some people tried to have Hafez killed, don't miss it. Our long-time sponsor: Vitabiotics. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We talked about love with Jahanbakhsh, known as the “Sultan of Emotion”. About the days when life got so hard we said: it can't get worse than this... but it did. Even much worse than we imagined. About the days we thought we couldn't go on, and then, once we had come through them, said to ourselves: we never thought we were this resilient... This is just one piece of our long, fascinating conversation with Babak Jahanbakhsh. Watch the full conversation, as always, on Monday on Baziya's YouTube channel.Baziya - Pouria Bakhtiari

Is Iran's economy on the verge of collapse?! In episode twenty of Baziya we talked with Pouria Bakhtiari, writer, economic expert and maker of the Ecotopia podcast. For years Pouria has tried to take economics out of numbers and charts and explain in plain language how it affects our daily lives. This time, in a casual conversation, we talked about Iran's economy: from decisions that, as Pouria puts it, should have been explained to a president with an animation, to inflation that governments themselves started and the path that can lead to hyperinflation — and on to Dubai's self-made people!!! Watch the full conversation between Ali Ziya and Pouria Bakhtiari on Baziya's YouTube channel and listen in podcast apps. Vitabiotics, always on the people's side.Baziya - Kia Davoud Esfandiari
